Avoiding Forum Problems

Without getting too technical, it would be helpful to avoid some issues on the forum if topics were kept from getting too long. There is no hard-limit but no more than 50-100 posts per topic would be reasonable. To help with this, I would suggest creating a new topic for most discussions rather than continuing to indefinitely add to the same one (there's a few that seem to keep growing, like those dealing with upcoming seminars, congratulations, and class cancellation notices).
I've added a new feature to the forums that might help with at least one of these. On the top menu bar, there is now a new item - "Calendar". If you click on that, you can list an event on the calendar and a corresponding topic will be created in the board of your choice. In that topic, you can post details about the event. Using this for upcoming seminars would help, as it would create a separate topic for each seminar. Just be careful which board you select when doing it and be aware of whether it is being listed in the General (public) section or the private PHD/WHLC section. Please let me know if there are questions on how to use it. I can also link this calendar to the "Upcoming Events" section on the main WHLC website.

It took me a little while but I figured out the "calendar". It's wayyyyy at the top of the forums. *hehe* Once you see it, you can't miss it. Don't know what I was looking at.
Looks like a nice feature. Thanks!

By the way, any member can add an event to the calendar. But you can only edit or delete ones that you created yourself. Enjoy!
