Hello everyone, first my apologies for being slow to respond but I've been gone from home the last two months. I did want to bring up the topic of kettle bells. I was introduced to them about 8 months ago and have had great success with them. For anyone that has not heard about them they are basically a cannon ball with a handle attached that the Russians first started using a while back. They are used in various exercises (swings, one handed overhead snatches, etc.) to help build great core strength, stamina and overall muscle development. I used them prior to developing an unrelated injury but their use in rehabing my injury (an inguinal hernia) helped speed me to a quicker recovery. I use them to supplement my other martial arts and weight workouts. They come in various sizes. (36, 53, 72 lbs, etc.) I feel that they are great tool for martial artists because of the incredible workout they give to the entire body and the lack of equipment needed for great workouts (once you have a kettlebell). It helps to build strength in your stabilizing muscles while working on your major muscle groups. Anyone interested in more information can check a couple of websites
www.dragondoor.com and
www.hard-style.com. A lot of military (sf), law enforcement, and swat units use them and have had great success with them.
Take Care,
Shane
