Hello all, had a question this past weekend about heel and foot pain.  By good chance, I got together with a podiatrist yesterday and really picked his brain about the "state of the art" treatments for i.e. heel spurs.  These days, after the diagnosis is made (via x-rays), they begin with conservative care of cortisone injections and supports - objective is to release the pressure on the ligaments holding the bottom of the foot together (especially at the insertion site at the base of the calcaneous) and stretch them out again.  Only if this fails do they go in with surgery which is minimal - unlike in the old days.  So for those of that asked, check with a good podiatrist about conservative care for foot pain.  Sounds good to me.  Take care Leslie
